Port Albert is a great access point for boaters, and the local jetties can be fished on the run-in-out tide for most species such as snapper, flathead, gummy shark, squid, and whiting.

The area is famous for its expansive sheltered fishing and easy access to Bass Strait through its all-tide entrance.

Fishing at Port Albert

Port Albert offers many opportunities for anglers of all types.

For adventurous & experienced boaties willing to take a trip through the entrance will be rewarded with some good seasonal catches of Gummy Shark, Snapper, Kingfish, and sometimes Tuna.

The inshore waterways within the confines of the local islands are a safe option for those looking for a more relaxed day on the water with quantities of Flathead, Whiting, Squid, Snapper, Pinkies and Gummy Shark.

Use our new 4 berth boat ramp, floating pontoons to support all sized boats and kayaks all supported by a large trailor parking area with boat wash down facilities and fish filleting stations.

Land based anglers can enjoy the serenity of the jetties while watching the world go by. The catch can vary, but you can add Garfish & Leatherjackets to the catch list.

With the 90 mile beach only a 30 mins drive, a spot of surf fishing could also be considered with easy access from Woodside Beach.

And if the fish don't bite, you can grab Gippsland's best food and coffee from that varied local food stores while the kids play in the local playground.
