Early risers (or late-night party goers) across regional Victoria have recently been treated to a breathtaking surprise in the night sky as an Aurora Australis, also known as the Southern Lights, dances across the horizon.

From East Gippsland to Warrnambool in south-west Victoria, towns have been aglow with the stunning phenomenon, captivating all who were lucky enough to witness it.
The Science Behind the Spectacle
Renowned astronomer and space historian, Dave Reneke, shed light on the mesmerising event, explaining that auroras are caused by solar flares. What made this display even more remarkable was the vividness of the colours, a rarity visible from Victoria. It was a celestial show unlike any other.
